Bear with me. Briefly. (Thanks!) I’m going to have one of those flashback-moments…
It is 2009. I stroll into my local triathlon store. A bright, smiling sneaker-sales-lass convinces me to stand on Dr Scholl’s Foot Fit Kiosk. Lo and behold, Your Humble Narrator’s feet have some of the highest arches in the South East! Fortunately, Dr Scholl’s happens to have a solution. And for a decade, I’ve worn generic orthotics with some degree of improvement over previous decades.
Okay. We’re back in 2019! The march of technology has continued at a rapid pace. Ten days ago, I stop by Wiivv’s Website, load their app on my phone, and take two curated pictures of each foot. Today… BOOM! Custom-made, 3D printed orthotics are waiting to join me on the trail and on the road and anywhere I may roam.
These smooth and stylish insoles are designed to support my magnificent arches. They replace my existing inserts. And they come with That New Sole Smell!
Testing them on a trip around the block felt like walking on turf instead of asphalt. My weight felt more distributed. And even though the insoles are rigid, there’s a fine mesh that provides a sense of shock absorption. Much comfort is created. And I’m super happy with the perceived improvement.
Or maybe it is just a placebo? Either way, I like them. They came with a custom screen print and… my name stamped on the bottom of them! They’re cute, functional, and WOW! do I have some crazy high arches!
If I’ve piqued your curiousity, head over to Wiivv and see if anything catches your eye. Trust me, your feet will thank you for it!
